Day 3: Boarding – Aswan High Dam – Unfinished Obelisk – Philae Temple
Breakfast onboard the train. Arrival and assistance at Aswan train station.
Transfer for a tour of the Aswan High Dam, built in 1960—one of modern Egypt’s most remarkable engineering achievements. Its main purpose was to control the annual flooding of the Nile, which for centuries both nourished and devastated the surrounding farmland. The dam now regulates the river’s flow, ensuring a steady water supply for agriculture and daily life while generating hydroelectric power. It also created Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest man-made lakes, crucial for Egypt’s economic and social development.
Visit the Unfinished Obelisk, located in Aswan’s ancient granite quarries. This massive monument, carved directly from the rock, cracked during construction and was never completed. Had it been finished, it would have been the largest obelisk ever erected in Ancient Egypt. It is attributed to Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most powerful female pharaohs, and provides fascinating insight into ancient stone-carving techniques.
Excursion to the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and considered one of the most beautiful temples of Ancient Egypt. Originally located on Philae Island, it was relocated to nearby Agilkia Island after the construction of the High Dam to protect it from submersion under Lake Nasser. Surrounded by the Nile’s calm waters, Philae Temple remains one of Egypt’s most enchanting archaeological sites.
Transfer to the Nile cruise in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Embarkation. Lunch onboard. Sail to Kom Ombo. Dinner and overnight onboard.

Day 4
Day 4: Kom Ombo Temple – Edfu Temple
Breakfast onboard. Visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile-headed god of fertility and the Nile’s power, and Horus, the falcon god. This dual dedication is reflected in the temple’s perfectly symmetrical design—two entrances, two hypostyle halls, and two sanctuaries. Its stunning location on the riverbank makes it both architecturally and historically fascinating. Sail to Edfu. Lunch onboard.
Take a carriage ride to visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in all of Egypt. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, who avenged his father Osiris by defeating his uncle Seth, this Ptolemaic temple (built between 237 and 57 BC) still retains much of its original structure. Its walls are adorned with extraordinary carvings depicting scenes from Egyptian mythology. Sail to Luxor. Dinner and overnight onboard.

Day 5
Day 5: Valley of the Kings – Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari – Colossi of Memnon – Karnak Complex – Luxor Temple
Breakfast onboard. Begin the day with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, the main burial site of New Kingdom pharaohs (circa 1550–1070 BC). Located near ancient Thebes (modern Luxor), this valley holds over 60 tombs carved into the rock for kings and nobles, including the famous tomb of Tutankhamun, discovered almost intact in 1922. The tombs’ vivid paintings and reliefs depict the pharaohs’ journey to the afterlife.
Continue to the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, one of Egypt’s most unique and impressive monuments. Built in honor of Queen Hatshepsut of the 18th Dynasty, the temple’s elegant terraced design blends seamlessly into the cliffs of the Theban mountains. Dedicated to one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs, it celebrates her reign and accomplishments.
Visit the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Carved from quartzite and standing about 18 meters tall, they once flanked the entrance to his mortuary temple. In Greco-Roman times, one statue was famous for producing a mysterious “singing” sound at dawn—attributed to the mythical hero Memnon, hence their modern name.
Excursion to the Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest and most significant religious centers in Ancient Egypt, primarily dedicated to Amun-Ra. Expanded by numerous pharaohs, Karnak became a symbol of divine and royal power.
Visit the Luxor Temple, a masterpiece of New Kingdom architecture dedicated to the Theban triad—Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Connected to Karnak by an avenue lined with sphinxes, Luxor Temple was the focus of the annual Opet Festival, which reinforced the pharaoh’s divine right to rule. Return to the cruise. Lunch, dinner, and overnight onboard.
